The week has a strong community focus and celebrates the contribution made to football by black, Asian and other ethnic minorities, whilst continuing the call to challenge racism.
The period sees the games biggest names stand alongside communities across the UK under the banner - 'One Game, One Community'
During this period grass roots clubs, schools, community groups and fans join the professional game in coming together for an extended week of symbolic activities promoting inclusion.
In 2006 more than 800 events took place during the week of action, including an anti- racism match day at all 92 professional clubs in England and Wales.

About Kick It Out

Kick It Out is football’s anti-racism campaign.

The brand name of the campaign - Let’ s Kick Racism Out of Football - was established in 1993.

Kick It Out works throughout the football, educational and community sectors to challenge racism and work for positive change.

The campaign is supported and funded by the game’ s governing bodies, including founding body the Professional Footballers Association (PFA), the FA Premier League, the Football Foundation and The Football Association.

Racism - What is it?

Racism: is the belief that because people have a different skin colour or come from another country or part of the world they are inferior.

Race: The word racism comes from this word. "Race" was how scientists in the 19th century classified groups of people according to the colour of their skin. Scientists have now proved that all people - black, white or brown - all have the same ancestors.

Prejudice: Prejudice is judgement based upon ignorance, making-up your mind about someone before you really know them.

What Can You Do?

Report racists:If you receive racist abuse, or see or hear someone making racist comments or gestures, you should report it – to a steward or the police; to a teacher or coach; to the club if you are a fan; or to the local authority if it occurs on your local council pitch.

Racist abuse at football matches is against the law, so the police and stewards should take action. Referees should act if the abuse comes from players, and your league or county FA should look into the matter. Make note of the incident and let Kick It Out know what’ s happened too.

The KIO hotline number is 0800 169 9414.

Greetland Goldstars supported the National Anti-Racism Week of Action in Football, by giving out wristbands to the players and explaining what they are for and how we can all work together to rid the game of racism.
