Fund-raising NewsBonus Ball DrawGreetland Goldstars are set to introduce a brand new way for you to win cash prizes, and, make additional funds to support the running of the club. The ‘Lucky 11’ game, although creating a tidy cash-prize kitty, didn’t inspire most to take part, so, the ‘Bonus Ball’ will now take over. The game is simple and easy to play. You pick one number between 1-49, this number will be confirmed by the club and will belong exclusively to you. Then, paying just £1 per week via instalments of £5, £10 or £20, keep your eye on the Saturday National Lottery draw. If your exclusive number is the bonus ball drawn, you will win a cash prize. Draws will take place every Saturday and the game will take place all year round. There will also be two special draws, a Christmas bonus draw and a close-season Summer Solstice draw. Draw winners will receive a £50 cash prize for both these draws. Prizes will be awarded on a weekly basis depending on the amount of participants in the game.
LaserZoneGreetland Goldstars held their third annual Laserzone fundraiser to help boost club funds. Over 100 tickets were eventually sold, players, family and friends from various age groups enjoyed mixed games including solo, group games and midnight mayhem. The previous events at Laserzone have always proved a successful way of raising funds for the club and, despite not selling as many tickets as previous years, the club will still benefit from the £800 generated. The event also again highlighted the important role played by the clubs social representatives, dedicated parent volunteers who push social and fundraising events within their teams, who worked hard to ensure last minute sales of tickets were boosted by over 30 tickets. The club is some way short of matching last seasons fundraising efforts, though the social team will be hard at work before the season ends to generate as much additional funds as possible. Goldstars Lucky 11Unfortunately due to lack of interest, the Lucky 11 game has been wound up. Not to worry, it will be replaced by something even simpler to run and with prizes awarded on a weekly basis! PaintballingWell a very early start for the U11's and U13's of Greetland Goldstars, 30 boys, girls and Dad's but no Mum's left the club at 8:15am to get to Delta-Force Paint-balling War Zone in Wakefield. After filling out all the paperwork, we got suited and booted into the uniforms, of which some were a little too big and some of the uniforms a little too small for others, people will remain nameless... So war paint and camouflage on, we were ready to enter the war zone, teams split up equally paintballs handed out (3000 free for 1st game) thats 100 each for everyone dead easy and at no extra cost! So remember that for next time you guys that did fancy it.. 1st game- Pyramid, a race to the Pyramid to collect the small statue and get it to the oppositions base, dead easy, apart from flying pa, smoke bombs and what ever else Johnny could get his hands on (even an upgrade on his gun). Each game lasted 30 mins and split into 2 halves, so 15 mins each way, us boys are used to that...!! Not With some dads looking ready to pass out after the 1st game and another 4 games zones to play hmm . . Time would tell who survived. Well at the final zone of the day another 3000 paintballs were handed out so thats 200 free paintballs on the day, that only cost £10 . So the Boys and Girls all survived but the dads were ready for a well earned Drink !! A fantastic day, a great team building day. Some come on next time lets get 60 of us at Delta-Force. LazerzoneThe club held it's latest fundraising event on Sunday 20th February, a night at Laserzone in Huddersfield. Players and parents across the age groups came together for a four hour stint of games, including the famed 'Midnight Madness', laser tag and solo games. For some, it was a chance to get one over on their team managers, assistants and parents, whilst for those with a competitive streak, it was all about getting to the top of the score rankings. The event was a success socially and financially, with £1000 being made to support the club. The event also heralded a further triumph for the club's social representatives, dedicated volunteers who gave up their time promoting the event within their teams as well as making all important ticket sales. Due to the success of the event, the club will be looking to run it again next season. |
Social Representative DetailsThe Social Representative role is a critically important role within the club to promote all our fundraising activities. In the 2010-11 season, we suffered a shortfall of £1315; this despite having one of the best fundraising years to date as we generated over £3000. Needless to say, without the fundraising our shortfall would have been much larger! This role is absolutely ideal for anyone connected to a team within the club who wants to be involved but does not have the time, or want the higher workload, of a manager. Don't let the list below put you off, it really isn't as big a workload as it may seem! In the role of a social representative you will:
Why do we need Fund-raising?We are often asked why do we have fund-raising events, after all we pay subs. Unfortunately subs alone do not cover the ever increasing costs associated with running a football club. There are all the hidden costs such as CRB checks for all managers and helpers, as well as the training courses we send the managers on. Below are some graphs which hopefully show where the money comes from and goes to. ![]() These figures were taken from the 2010/2011 season

Fund-raising DetailsIf anybody has any fundraising ideas to raise valuable money for our club please let us know: contact any member of the committee or your son/daughters manager. We may be preaching to the converted but it takes a lot of money to run Greetland Goldstars over a season (over £3,000 just for the pitch and changing room hire) - PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR BOYS & GIRLS IN ALL FUNDRAISING EVENTS. |
