 Under 10 'Stars' Penalty Shootout

GREETLAND Goldstars Under 10 Stars held a sponsored penalty shootout event at Brooksbank School sponsored by Freudenberg non-wovens of Greetland.
The aim of the day was for the players to have fun, for the team sponsors and players' family to come and watch/liaise with management and to generate funds for the club and under 10 Stars' winter training sessions at North Bridge.
The event started with the JRS Consultants cross bar challenge event in a best of five format. Andy Bean of the sponsors presented the award to goalkeeper Luke Heaton, who hit the bar three times.
The squad was split in two and played out a five-a-side game in which there were some excellent displays of passing, movement and shooting.
The day ended with the highly anticipated Freudenberg non-wovens penalty shootout event. Midfielder Niall Porter and striker Ethan Mason hit a perfect five, taking the two players to a sudden death shootout. Both started well by netting their first attempt but Porter's second was hit wide, leaving Mason to claim the title. The trophy for the shootout was awarded by Claire Massey of Freudenberg non-wovens.
The day was made even more special with the arrival of special guest, former Greetland and current Huddersfield Town and England under 19 goalkeeper Simon Eastwood.
Manager Andy Heaton was delighted with Eastwood's appearance at the event. "We are grateful he took the time out to come and talk to the lads and have photos taken with them," he said. "Everyone was impressed and it was a nice surprise. He's injured at the moment and we hope he has a speedy recovery."
